Welsh Choir

With about a dozen of us in attendance and settled into our seats the Master of Ceremonies, Peter Lewis (he of the terrible jokes at which we all laughed) got proceedings underway.

As the concert was close to Armistice Day, there was a wartime themed bracket of songs included. Songs everyone knew but just in case the lyrics were included in the program handout, and we were encouraged to join in.

The second half included a bracket of Seekers music.

The Choir finished with “Calon Lan”, a Welsh prayer from the 1890’s latterly becoming a rugby anthem particularly associated with the Welsh International team, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” (Awimbawe) and Josh Grogan’s “You Raise Me Up”.

The concert closed with rousing renditions of both the Welsh and Australian national anthems.
